Senior Management Accountant

An exciting opportunity for a experienced Management Accountant to join the local government services division of this FTSE 100. You should be at least part-qualified level with good budgeting experience & analytical skills. Strong Excel is required and the ability to liaise with a range of stakeholders. A service sector background is needed, any exposure to local authority / social care would be highly beneficial.
Responsibilities will include:- * Take responsibility for providing sound financial advice to managers, including at the most senior level and ensure that effective and proactive support is available and provided to front line services at all times
* Supporting budget holders in developing and monitoring service plans
* Advise budget managers about budget and accounting issues clearly and using appropriate language
* Facilitate training on budget and financial matters to both service managers and business support staff, providing directly, where necessary and appropriate.
* Ensure that procedures are in place so that transactions are accurately analysed in compliance with best practice, statutory regulations and Government requirements.
* Ensure that the analysis of income and expenditure meets the requirements of budget managers and is available for them to easily interpret and understand from SAP
* Carry out tasks within the closing of accounts process, ensuring timetables are met and supporting information standards are achieved
* Accurately complete and submit returns and grant claims in line with specified deadlines and compile requisite supporting information for external inspection
