Robot Operator (Mechanical)

PROJECT OVERVIEW/ROLE DESCRIPTION
* Position: Robot Operator (Mechanical).

Location: Workington, Cumbria.
Length: 7 to 9 months+. Hours 39 per week.
Rate: £30 per hour Ltd

OBJECTIVE
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the development of remote handling systems and test rigs along with running trials on them in an inactive environment. This is an exciting opportunity to support the design and development of specialist handling equipment for the nuclear decommissioning sector.

DELIVERABLES (FOR CONTRACT)
* Undertake development trials of remote handling equipment including robots on inactive test rigs. Direction of technicians and process operators during equipment/rig build, commissioning and operation. Operation of remote handling equipment. Understanding 2D and 3D detailed design drawings. Liaison with suppliers and manufacturers. Initiation and progression of project requirements such as procurement and inspection. Involvement with the installation, commissioning and operational support of test rigs and equipment. Development of methodologies and processes. Identify process problems propose solutions and improvements. Assist in the preparation of safety related documentation.

ESSENTIAL/DESIRABLE SKILLS
* HNC in mechanical engineering/science subject OR several years appropriate experience in relevant R&D role. Experience in an engineering development environment with a specific on remote handling, inspection and development trials on test rigs. Able to understand engineering drawings. Ability to understand complex technical information, ideas and concepts.
