THE ROLE

The role of the Project Engineer will be to deliver components & systems into new engine programmes, achieving Quality, Cost, Weight, Function & Timing targets.

RESPONSIBILITIES

. Deliver Engine system(s) on time into production achieving:

- Quality: Use engineering quality systems (FMEAs, Robustness Studies etc) to identify & contain potential quality concerns.
- Cost: Support Engines Manager in definition of programme cost targets & work with suppliers to deliver system that achieves these targets.
- Weight: Support Engines Manager in definition of programme weight targets & manage CAD engineers to design system that achieves targets.
- Function: Generate robust System Design Specification to define system functional targets & deliver components to meet targets. Support Test & Development team with DVP planning & execution & ensure supplier tests are completed on time.
- Package: Manage CAD engineers to achieve static & dynamic clearance targets, negotiate component change in other areas of Product Development if required to achieve clearances.
- Assembly: Work with engine manufacturing to ensure that components can be assembled into engine/vehicle repeatedly & within required cycle time

. Support and if necessary lead FMEAs and input to manufacturing PFMEA.

. Present programme status to Powertrain Gateways, support Powertrain design reviews, Package Meetings & Powertrain PMT meetings.

CANDIDATE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

. Automotive/Mechanical Engineering Degree.

. Component/system project management experience with Engine knowledge.

. Communication - running meetings, creating & following up action logs. Negotiating support, presenting project status.

. Planning/project management - creating commodity timing plans, identifying & communicating project risks & opportunities.

. Financial management - delivery of system within agreed budget.

. Driving licence & Medical clearance required to use High speed tracks and Hot and Cold environmental chambers if required to support development activities.

. Office based with engineering support for prototype vehicle workshop & production line as required.
