POSITION DESCRIPTION:

We have an outstanding contract opportunity for a fully qualified accountant, intermediately experienced (12-18 months) Product Controller (Exotics, Accountant, Banking) to make their mark with one of the world's largest international banking and financial services companies. In the role of a Product Controller (Exotics, Accountant, Banking), you will play an integral role in helping our client deliver market leading services that set it apart from its competitors.

* Operates controls over the validity and accuracy of the CIB Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reporting across all asset classes (rates, currencies, credit and asset backed securities)

* Enacting controls to ensure that certain rights and obligations are appropriately reflected in the ledger for statutory and regulatory reporting purposes

* Ensuring compliance with internal and external policies through the execution of controls related to the accounting treatment of financial instruments

* Assessing the commerciality of reported revenues and balance sheet to ensure that regulatory and statutory information is reasonable relative to market events, trading positions, trading activity and complexity and magnitude of risk

* Involvement in the assessment and testing of the adequacy and effectiveness of controls, and any subsequent enhancement, of the risk and control framework

ADDITIONAL POSITION DETAILS:

* Ensure CIB trading businesses comply with all relevant regulatory, statutory and RBS compliance requirements

* Ensure effective performance of all controls within given timeframes

* Work closely with other key stakeholders (Front Office, other Finance teams, Market Risk etc) on regular and ad-hoc requests

* Ensure process documentation is reviewed and updated (as required)

* Identify and address ineffectiveness and inefficiencies within the existing control environment and develop remedial activity in conjunction with key stakeholders

* Managing and resolving data quality and risk issues to enhance the control framework.

COMPETENCIES:

Candidates should have the following:

* Investment banking, Front Office Exotics

* Strong accounting skills with experience gained within the Financial Services sector

* Strong understanding of financial markets (products, valuation & risk across various asset classes)

* Expansive knowledge of key finance controls required to ensure that the control environment remains effective and efficient

* Ability to break down complex problems into their core components

* Ability to apply technical and product knowledge (including Greeks) to explain P&L, Balance Sheet and risk in terms of key drivers

* Ability to work efficiently as part of a team and take on others ideas/issues and incorporate them into a solution

* Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
