Principal Project Planner

OUR LARGE RAIL CLIENT URGENTLY REQUIRE A PRINCIPAL PROJECT PLANNER TO LEAD IN THE CREATION OF A LONG-TERM PLAN ON ASSOCIATED RAILWAY ENGINEERING ENHANCEMENTS.

This client-facing role requires someone with excellent stakeholder management.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Input into negotiations for the engineering access required to implement the plan for the least whole life cost for the rail industry

Represent the company interests at internal and external meetings eg Special Interest Groups, Professional Institutions and benchmarking/Best practice activities.

Co-ordination of all planning information from all project teams (track, signalling, enhancements) as well as maintenance and minor works.

Work with the programme teams to develop a 4D BIM model for the route

Develop and maintain a planning database

Identify inter-dependencies between delivery groups and give early warning of potential conflicts.

Facilitate strategic priorities are being observed by individual delivery groups, including all project and maintenance activities.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

* Experience in Primavera Project Management tool

* Relevant experience in the successful management, control, planning and delivery of major construction and engineering projects.

* Advanced knowledge of in the UK rail industry.

* Ability to undertake structured analysis to problems and develop business-wide solutions.

* Must have proven experience of working with technical and engineering staff

DESIRABLE

* Member of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or educated to degree level.

* Chartered Engineer/Manager Status

* A working knowledge of investment principles, support disciplines (risk, estimating, planning, cost and value management) and systems.

* Familiarity with railway operations and engineering
