A West Midlands local authority is seeking to appoint a number of interim Practice Supervisors and Principal Practice Supervisors to join their Children's Services teams.

These roles offer a great opportunity to really make a difference to the welfare of vulnerable children and families by leading in the improvement of social work practice.

Key responsibilities of practice supervision will be:

1. To lead, and drive and evidence continuous improvement in the use of evidence based interventions with children, young people and their families.
2. To work as a member of an integrated team, to deliver a professional and high quality service that actively engages with children, young people and their families.
3. To ensure services provided to children, young people and their families are timely and compliant with policy, procedures and current legislation; reflective of established best practice.
4. To deliver and monitor staff practice and compliance with policies and procedures which secure children and young people's admission and attendance at school, promotes good health and family relationships and that safeguards and promote their welfare within their family and community.
5. To actively contribute and lead the development of practice that is reflective of best practice in the context of integrated working and providing a timely and effective response to the needs of children, young people and their families.
6. To effectively lead and manage staff through the appropriate allocation of responsibilities and work load.
7. To identify and actively respond to the development and learning needs of staff
8. To continuously review and modify the practice standards for staff so that they are evidenced through regular supervision, training and performance review

The Principal Practice Supervisors will, in addition to the above:

1. provide operational leadership, vision and direction in an area of responsibility
2. take responsibility and accountability for ensuring a nominated service area achieves its strategic plans by promoting an appropriate culture, empowering others and demonstrating and promoting high practice standards

For both roles, candidates must demonstrate:
-Proven experience of working in a professional capacity and effecting a positive change in the lives of children young people and their families.
-Experience of working collaboratively with other professionals, Community Groups, Volunteers, from the Voluntary and Statutory Sector.
-Experience of delivering workshops, training and/or supervising individuals within a professional capacity
-Experience of working under pressure and dealing with conflicting demands whilst meeting strict deadlines
-Report writing and record keeping to account for decisions taken and interventions provided.
