Principal Engineer Operations

I am currently looking for a Principal Engineer Operations for my client inAberdeen. They will operate within the central Operations and Engineering function as the expert and driver of the Operations expert and peer network. The role * Support the regions / assets with the planning of routine Operations related inspections ensuring economies of scale are leveraged * Provide clear direction as to the compliance with statutory legislation in all Operations areas, audit assets as necessary to ensure compliance * Work within a small team of technical professions with considerable interaction with assets at all technical and managerial levels * Work with internal stakeholders responsible for developments, projects, operations HSSE etc. Maintain peer relationships with other engineering professionals and functional experts in other departments, assets and regions * Maintain external relationships with industry experts, both professional and technical organisations, universities, industry groups, equipment vendors and contractors in the Operations field * Ensure that a framework of static Operations technical standards, capturing industry and Company best practice, is produced and applied to all activities * Assess, endorse and introduce appropriate new technologies that are appropriate to the company * Manage competence assurance for the Operations job family * Support the development and roll out an overall engineering assurance process for operational assets and projects, with a strong focus on safety and risk reduction. Support assurance reviews when appropriate. The Person * Extensive experience in upstream engineering and operations which has shown a proven delivery into projects and operations, covering onshore and offshore oil and gas production and associated facilities in a client/operator environment at a senior level * Significant experience in client/operator roles in the management of contractors with active involvement in the application of quality assurance and quality control: including reviewing calculations, philosophies and designs. Active participation in reviews and in particular risk and hazard assessment activities with the ability to resolve complex Operations problems in a range of contexts from conceptual design to operational facilities * Preferably degree qualified to BSc. / MSc. / BEng in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering and a Chartered Engineer * Very effective interpersonal skills that allow the job holder to strongly influence staff at all levels and across different cultures with strong communication skills (both written and verbal) * A track record of continuing professional development in order to keep abreast of the latest developments relevant the Operations discipline and the industry in general. · Knowledge of all forms of engineering documentation, including block diagrams, PFDs, P&IDs Data Sheets, and computer based structural models * The ability to challenge others in a constructive manner and influence internal peers, internal senior executives and partner's representatives to influence decisions or ways of working * A proven ability to coach, mentor and share knowledge with a team player mindset and the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
