Postdoctoral Fellow in Early Pathogenesis of lung Cancer

A postdoctoral fellow position is immediately available for a highly motivated recent PhD or MD/PhD graduate in biomedical science. We have recently defined the shared transcriptome between seeming normal airway cells close to a lung tumor and the lung tumor itself, an effect we refer to as field cancerization and that is highly pertinent to lung oncogenesis. The focus of research for this position will be to investigate the role of the airway field cancerization concept in lung cancer development in smokers and non-smokers using a mouse model for lung cancer, human clinical specimens and molecular biology approaches that include high-throughput "omics" and next-generation sequencing techniques. The candidate will have the opportunity to work in a very collaborative, vibrant and multidisciplinary research environment that will allow translation of research findings to new strategies for lung cancer detection, prevention and treatment.
