A post-doctoral position is available in the Prosser Lab in the Department of Physiology at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine for an NIH-funded project addressing the role of the cytoskeleton in cardiovascular cell biology, physiology and disease. The project utilizes state of the art light microscopy and the manipulation of cellular mechanical stress to explore how mechanical forces affect cell signaling, and the role of the cytoskeleton in this process. Basic science studies will be conducted largely from small animal models on the cellular and molecular level, but with complementary in vivo studies and translational work in human tissue. The project will involve collaborative efforts with other members of the Pennsylvania Muscle Institute (PMI) and Cardiovascular Institute (CVI), taking full advantage of the rich, collegial environment at Penn.
