Operation / Support Engineer

A highly recognisable and well known software vendor has a requirement for a talented engineer to work across their operations team.

They are looking for a highly motivated self-starter for a 12 month period. This opportunity is to join the Production team who are responsible for building, packaging, testing and releasing malware definition (DAT) files and other Content each day.

Specific Responsibilities/Functions

* Quickly develop a good understanding of the Production teams' daily operational practices such that you are competent and confident to perform operational duties yourself
* Follow the documentation for those operational practices and process flows and update them where necessary
* Execute and support daily operational tasks
* Track progress of operational tasks against release criteria and escalate if they do not match or exceed those criteria
* Identify and propose potential improvements that can be made to existing Perl scripts
* Write MySQL queries to produce reports
* Undertake1st line investigation and analysis

Technical Experience

* Perl Scripting
* Windows and Linux administration
* MySQL queries

Desirable

* PHP, HTML, CSS
* Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware)
* ISEB/ISTQB
* ITIL v3 Foundation
