My client is looking to recruit Security and Network Analysts. These roles will require candidates with a good working knowledge of network technologies, including experience of one or more network security technologies such as SIEM, NIPS, FPC Vulnerability Assessment tools or Firewall technologies. The role will involve aspects of cross-role training in order to develop the security skills of the successful network analyst candidates in support of a Security Event Analyst role.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The successful candidates are required to have experience in one or more of the following network security technologies, and must be interested in moving towards a security event analyst role:

NIPS, FPC, SIEM, Firewalls, Vulnerability Assessment tools.

The candidates much have a good working knowledge of network protocols and network architectures, and be experienced is the use of packet capture, packet replay techniques, and have the ability to analyse network traffic in order to identify issues, either from a technological axis or security threat/attack axis. The candidates must have skills in both presentation and customer relations both at a technical and non-technical level, and the must be proactive and diligent, with a strong technical ability. The current projects will require an awareness of Cyber capabilities and an interest in developing Security Event Analyst skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

- Good working knowledge of networking protocols and technologies
- Use of packet capture and packet replay, with analysis of the traffic to identify threats/. Issues.
- Management, use and analysis of events from Network Based Intrusion Detection Systems (NIDS)
- Security event management and analysis, especially with the configuration, operation, troubleshooting, and management of ArcSight products;
- Computer forensics tools (stand alone and on-line and network)
- Computer security tools (Vulnerability Assessment, Anti-virus, Protocol Analysis, Anti-Virus, Protocol Analysis, Anti-Spyware, etc)
- Deployment, configuration and maintenance of network security appliances and networking devices and associated management software
- Secure web design and development
- Military communication systems and networks
- Fault finding and problem solving

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS
- Break information into component parts, patterns and relationships;
- Probe for further information or greater understanding of a problem;
- Make rational judgement from the available information and analysis;
- Produce workable solutions to a range of problems and demonstrate an understanding of how one issue may be a part of a much larger system.
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in an IT related discipline.
- Use of packet capture and packet replay, with analysis of the traffic to identify threats/. Issues.
- Cisco networking and security equipment
- Juniper networking and security equipment
- Firewalls
- Network monitoring, such as Solarwinds
