Network Automation Engineer

NETWORK AUTOMATION ENGINEER

My client is an international business based in the Netherlands and a world leader in their field of telecoms. We are particularly looking for Network Automation Engineers

This role is English speaking.

This is a long-term project expected to last 12 - 18 Months. You will be joining a world-class team of Developers and Engineers working in a fantastic office in Amsterdam.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement tools that help automate end-to-end processes that involve the network infrastructure
- Participate in Coding using Python to develop Network automation tools
- Model the aspects of LAN/WAN network, and provide the right level of abstraction
- Work with Operational/Engineering and Implementation Teams and propose new ideas of automation
- Drive the innovation and evolution of Network Automation tools.
- Automate select network operation tasks through creation and maintenance of tools and software
- Deliver simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes
- Work closely with our Network Architecture and Engineering teams to ensure a fast, smooth roll-out of new designs and products.
- Create and review documentation and process regarding recurring issues, new standard operating procedures, knowledge transfer material, etc.
- Provide network automation solutions at scale

SKILLS INCLUDE:

- Proven successful track record of at least 3-5 years of software engineering design and development experience with a strong background in open source technology.
- Strong programming skills in Python/Java.
- Experience in Network engineering/design & administration (Switching, Routing, Firewalls):
- Knowledge of general network principles and technology in WAN and LAN infrastructures, VLANs, subnetting, routing etc.
- Knowledge of networking protocols and deployments (eg BGP, MPLS, OSPF, IS-IS, VLANs, prefix-lists, ACLs, etc)
- Experience with Juniper, Cisco, Nokia Routers and Switches
- Certifications like CCNA/CCNP/JNCIP preferred.
- Knowledge of configuration management & orchestration tool (like Ansible, NAPALM, Cisco NSO/Tail-F)
- Experience with working with REST APIs
- Experience in creating and maintaining version control of source code, such as SVN/GIT
- Experience with other languages is a plus (eg Bash, Perl, PHP)
- Knowledge of common network services, SNMP/syslog/DNS/NTP/PTP etc
- Background in large-scale network implementations. Service Provider network experience is a major plus
- Comfortable with database technologies and terminology
- Ability to work with JSON, XML, YAML, and proprietary data interchange formats
- Understanding of data structures, algorithms and their performance
- Structured and methodical, troubleshooting skills
- Experience in Agile methodologies
