My client a government sector ICT client based in Doha, Qatar is urgently looking for a Chief Economist on a 6 month Contract to manage the Competition Analysis Division for Telecommunications Sector in-country.
Your role will be acting as the competition watchdog for the Telecommunication Sector in Qatar.
You will be responsible for the market and competition analysis and oversees various cost studies.
You will have an active role in economic support that directs the strategy of the Regulatory Authority.
The areas covered include
- market definition, assessment of competition and market power, dominance designation
- Liberalisation and regulatory Strategy
- Economic models for regulatory use and accounting separation
- Price benchmarking
- Analysis of competition issues (eg complaints and potential abuses of margin squeeze, bundling, predatory pricing
- Periodic market/sector review and survey of the sector
- Design of effective and proportionate regulations and remedies
- Assist in the implementation of remedies
- Supervision of Cost of Capital calculation
Responsibility Overview
Ensures that relevant benchmarking data for the Regulatory Authority is available
Leads problem solving for all regulatory economic issues, which can be complex in nature.
Responsible for the arguments and supporting rationale of regulatory economics
Driving the market analysis process and is responsible for sector reviews.
