SENIOR IT PROJECT MANAGER FOSTER CITY, CA 12 MONTH CONTRACT, EXTENSION POSSIBLE

MUST HAVE SKILLS:

Must have active PMP certification. Minimum of 10 years of project management experience leading technical teams in the delivery of software development, operational and integration efforts. Minimum of 3 years experience leading Agile projects. Expertise in MS Project 2010 schedule management including understanding the role of robust WBSs. Proficient in the use of JIRA as an Agile Project Management tool.

NICE TO HAVE:

Familiarity with wireframe/mock up tools (eg Balsamiq) a plus.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This candidate will join the Corporate IT Project Management Office and will be responsible for successful project delivery while working with matrixed teams comprised of all ranges of technical and business personnel. A successful candidate MUST have active PMP and SCRUM/Agile certifications, significant IT PM experience and superb business-facing communication skills. The ability to manage outsourced development vendors and work effectively with multiple business partners is key.

RESPONSIBILITY LEVEL

- Exercises independent judgment with minimal direction from supervisor.
- Directs a mix of internal and outsourced/vendor, geographically diverse resources for project delivery.
- Establishes and sustains effective, professional relationships with IT and business managers.
- Understands enterprise core business drivers.
- Maintains high level of effective communication through status updates at various levels and thorough attention given to all project artifacts (eg meeting minutes, status reports)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

- Minimum of 10 years of project management experience leading technical teams in the delivery of software development, operational and integration efforts
- Minimum of 3 years experience leading Agile projects; experience with managing projects in an organization going through an agile transition a plus
- Must be PMP certified (no exceptions)
- Undergraduate degree in technical or business discipline required (equivalent work experience will be considered); advanced degree preferred
- Experience with Marketing Technology systems preferred
- Familiarity with wireframe/mock up tools (eg Balsamiq) a plus
- PM experience in a very large corporate environment preferred
- Demonstrable experience in managing several concurrent, medium-scale, high profile projects with extensive executive stakeholder participation
- Expertise in MS Project 2010 schedule management including understanding the role of robust WBSs
- Strong understanding of mature business requirements traceability processes
- Strategic thinking skills and proven ability to engage and influence senior and executive management

SKILLS

- Strong process orientation and a solid understanding of project management techniques, methodologies and best practices
- Experience managing projects using Agile and/or a hybrid of Agile and Waterfall methodologies
- Self-motivated ability to work independently while coordinating activities with cross-divisional teams
- Team player able to communicate with technical and business experts at all levels of the organization
- Ability to manage project financials including labor and non-labor forecasts
- Independent judgment and mature decision making skills to deal with projects that often have enterprise-wide scope and may have significant financial and compliance implications and impact
- Solid analytical and problem solving skills; ability to think strategically
- Well-honed influencing skills; ability to negotiate and gain consensus between organizations where competing priorities exist
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft tools (SharePoint 2010+, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
- Proficiency in the use of JIRA as an Agile Project Management tool
- Reputation for being a collaborative partner and business leader, skilled at leveraging formal and informal relationships
- Demonstrated ability to foster a trusting project environment
- Demonstrated leadership qualities including flexibility and adaptability to changes in roles and responsibility as required
- Ability to solicit project requirements and complete documentation as necessary
