BACKGROUND

Our Central Government client is looking to take on an Inventory Logistics Support (ILS) Manager to work a 10 month contract based in Bristol.

THE ROLE

The ILS Manager is responsible for capturing the requirements, costing, and ensuring delivery of all elements of air-weapon support including:

- Working with team to ensure effective integration of air-weapon into the Integrated Support and Training contract, training capital equipment, infrastructure and storage arrangements;
- Managing the logistics support and non-equipment inputs to the air-weapon Business Case
- Providing a air-weapon Project Team focal point for non-equipment issues and co-ordinating project team to support to non-equipment owners in support of air-weapon entry to service

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Prepare the air-weapon ILS strategy defining the resources and procedures necessary to manage the ILS programme
- Develop a cost effective support plan using LSA techniques as part of the defined ILS Strategy
- Produce an ILS plan (ILSP) that conforms to the objectives of the ILS strategy, identifying the tasks and milestones to be achieved leading to declaration of logistic readiness in accordance with department guideline
- Provide the interface for other weapon project teams with all logistic support agencies, internal stakeholders and contractors on logistic support issues
- Act as the ILS focus for stakeholders
- Manage the delivery of logistic support activities from the contractors and stakeholders
- Provide the point of contact for logistic support matters between the lead/international project office, the UK project team, national agencies and national contractors
- Liaise with the project team to ensure in-service support is in place when required
- Provide the logistic support input to the air-weapon Business Case and other project papers, reports and business case submissions required
- Develop the support strategy, as part of the overall Acquisition Strategy, against the programme baseline
- Include supportability requirements in all plans and programmes, including Technology Demonstrator Programmes, Development Trials, Requests for Proposal, Invitations to Tender, Tender Assessments and Contract Specifications
- Provide the logistic input into all reliability, maintainability and testability activity
- Identify and define support funding for all supportability aspects throughout the equipment's life cycle, and seek inclusion in Whole Life Cost (WLC) bids and submissions
- Assist the relevant Capability/Requirements Working Group in the development of the Use Study
- The ILS Manager will ensure that supportability aspects are represented at logistic support committee meetings

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

- The ability to work within a high pressured environment while working to tight deadlines
- A background in Defence/Military is desirable
