BASIC FUNCTION:

Assist in the intake and referral coordination of one or more programs within Catholic Charities. Provide initial screening of the caller and determine appropriate component. Maintain client database.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Under direction, ensure that the activities of this position and relevant programs are consistent with the mission, vision and values of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland.
- Handle work of a confidential nature; prioritize assignments to meet all deadlines.
- Type reports and other material.
- Proofread finished assignments for grammar, spelling, format and structure.
- Screen telephone calls; take all telephone and written referrals.
- Respond to all phone inquiries as appropriate.
- Assist in the site/program's activities and frequently contact internal and external customers on matters related to the same.
- Receive initial information from client and refer to appropriate community service provider such as, but not limited to, benefit bank, housing support, and utility support programs.
- May provide assistance with public awareness/education activities.
- May provide financial counseling as it related to maintaining household living expenses.
- Become familiar with funding sources; may determine appropriate funding for client.
- Maintain client database and data entry.
- Set up and maintain case/camp files and records.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
- Combination of education and experience normally represented by a High School Diploma or equivalent with previous experience working with low income population.
- Knowledgeable of community resources and various emergency assistance programs preferred.
- Must be able to negotiate and advocate on clients behalf.
- Must have good computer skills and knowledgeable in Microsoft Office.
- Must have good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be able to prioritize assignments and work with minimal supervision.
- Must have the ability to organize work in a neat, logical and well-documented manner.
- Final applicant is required to be fingerprinted to complete background check.
