INFORMATION ACCESS OFFICER/DATA/SEB/BCS

Part of the Information & Records Management Team, you will be responsible for supporting the department in meeting its legal responsibility in disclosing records in accordance with the subject access provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998.

You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, advising on legal disclosure issues on open cases, as well as being the lead officer for processing closed cases, processing and preparing files for subject access requests which relate to children services. Key accountabilites include:

- To provide support, advice and training to social care staff to process requests under the subject access provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998.
- To process closed access to records cases in accordance with the subject access provisions of the Data Protection Act, through analysis and forming evidence based decisions.
- To facilitate information sharing with Police, Health and Social Service Departments and other multi-agency departments, in accordance with regulatory and local procedures.

SEB/BCS Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection (or equivalent)
