Head of HSE, Renewables - Overview The HSE Manager is a key member of the Renewables Leadership Team, accountable for Health, Safety and Environmental activities. Key areas of scope are providing leadership, advice and support and implementing standards for achieving and sustaining Incident Free Operations, safety management systems and assurance processes, and risk assessment and management. * Package: £Competitive & excellent benefits package * Location:Windsor,Berkshirewith travel to Renewables sites Head of HSE, Renewables - The Role * Ensuring that all hazards have been identified and evaluated and that any residual risks are reduced to below the reasonably practicable limit * Giving strong recognition and projection to the principles of behavioral health and safety, and to ensuring workforce ownership and involvement in risk management decisions. * Exercising effective control and monitoring of persons at work. * Ensuring that competence of the workforce, including contractors, through a process of setting competence standards for each post and assessing the competence of prospective post holders against these standards. * Ensuring that the workforce is properly briefed before the start of a particular activity, is equipped with the correct equipment and personal protective gear, and is adequately supervised. * Ensuring the provision of clear work instructions and work procedures based on the outcomes of risk assessments, including the provision of a precise permit to work system for the control of non-standard work activities such as work associated with the operation of high voltage electrical systems. * Ensuring that quality assured training and coaching has been provided for the workforce, and involving and engaging with the workforce on health, safety and environment issues. * Having in place mitigation measures against any foreseeable emergencies and having an effective emergency response capability. * Monitoring and periodically auditing and reviewing the arrangements in place to safeguard against risks coming to fruition. Head of HSE, Renewables - The Person * Technical/Educational: * The role holder will be educated to degree level in an engineering or appropriate scientific discipline and /or be a fully qualified member of a professional engineering or safety body * Be familiar with current offshore (wind) and onshore Health, safety and environmental legalisation * Registered Safety Practitioner, MSc, Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Health and Safety * Experience: * Experience of managing and leading an HSE team within an engineering / project and operations environment * Understanding and experience of the energy industry from a technical and commercial perspective * Understanding and experience of the offshore engineering and construction industry from a technical and commercial perspective * Relationship: Will be responsible for managing direct and remote teams.
