HR Advisor - 6 Month Fixed Term Contract

Salary:  Minimum of £26,394 Pro Rata

Location: Cleveland

Role Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Steria on the unique Cleveland Police contract! This is a 6 month Fixed Term position to be based in our shared service centre in Stockton, and will involve being part of a professional and experienced team who provide an HR service to Cleveland Police. Ideally you will be an experienced HR professional with experience in the public sector

It is essential that the candidate go through NPPV2 + (Police) SC cleared for this position.

Responsibilities

- Deliver assigned tasks to ensure SLA requirements are met and actions are completed in a timely manner.
- Establish and maintain internal/external customer relationships to ensure a high level of service is provided
- Collate and provide information to ensure accuracy of reporting or to meet internal/external client requirements
- Provide information to employees' and managers' in relation to HR policies, procedures and practices to ensure compliance.
- Record customer queries and outcomes to ensure service levels are met and identify processes requiring improvement, identifying issues that require escalation to ensure effective resolution.
- Operate escalation procedures (including to internal or external 3rd parties) effectively and manage resolution to ensure queries are resolved within SLA requirements.
- Support projects and consultancy assignments to increase organisational effectiveness
- Monitor, update and develop Human Resources policies and procedures in relation to employment legislation and Human Resource Management best practice. 
- Provide managers' and Service Units' with effective support and advice.
- Provide training and advice to managers' and staff; ensuring consistent application across the client population in relation to Human Resources policies and procedures.
- Support the implementation and delivery of the 'Single Equality Scheme' and 'Equality Standards' initiatives for the client; ensuring adherence to associated work plans.  
- Sign Post District and Service Unit managers to sources of specialist advice. 

Essential skills
- Experience of providing advice and coaching managers through a variety of employee relations queries including absence, change management, performance and disciplinary and grievances procedures
- Experience of using IT ERP systems eg Oracle ERP;
- Studying or completed CIPD qualification;
- Listening and questioning skills;  
- Experience of using word processing applications, spread sheets and internal databases;
- Excellent customer service skills.

Desirable Skills

- Experience of working within a Shared Services centre;
- Experience of working within a unionised environment.

The successful candidates will be required to obtain UK security clearance.
