We have an exciting opportunity for a HR Advisor who will belong within our Employee Services Advisory team and is the first point of contact for all employment related queries within the company.

The role is offered on a Fixed Term Contract for 6 months

The majority of time will be spent providing telephone / e-mail advice to managers and the HR BP community.

They will be providing advice to a wide client group across the whole business covering office, field and industrial environments, with a diverse staff from corporate functions to specialist nuclear to call centre.

The HR Advisor will be able to tailor their personal style and the advice given to all situations.

The HR Advisor will work within the current employment landscape in the company which has a vast number of different legacy terms and conditions, custom and practice and employment polices and procedures.

There are also gaps in terms of the guidance on employment processes (for example probation) and the Advisor may have to make judgements in these areas with limited information, but ensuring that good practice and precedent are taken into consideration.

As such the HR Advisor will be required to advise in a very complex landscape exercising a robust understanding of employment law and best practice along with in depth knowledge of relevant company policies and agreements to deliver an effective service to the broad range of clients.

Responses may be required on terms and conditions, employment polices and processes and completion of forms etc.

Manage cases through all stages of the relevant company procedure.

Provide an initial best practice assessment and appropriate advice to managers / employees, with a view to resolving matters informally where possible, and in all cases in the best interests of the business and the individual.

Counsel line managers to effectively manage employment disputes.

Keep appropriate records (accurate file notes / timelines etc) and track cases using the enquiry management (case) system, analyse information gathered and provide tailored correspondence.

Manage and maintain working relationships with designated stakeholders to the level required to meet their expectations.

Ensure stakeholders are kept up to date with cases in progress and engaged within formal employment processes where necessary to ensure the most efficient resolution.

Participate in the induction of all new members of the team. Act as a coach / mentor to colleagues in areas of knowledge or expertise.

Support colleagues experiencing peaks of work.

Peer review letters and documentation prepared by colleagues. Demonstrate strong team behaviours at all times.

Any other duties that may be reasonably required commensurate with the role.

Graduate member of the CIPD or equivalent professional experience.

Broad and robust knowledge of current employment legislation and best practice.

Demonstrable experience of successfully coaching managers to achieve successful resolution of the full range of employment issues including discipline, grievance, poor performance, attendance etc.

Developed listening and questioning skills with a strong ability to translate complex legislative and policy situations into clear and comprehensible responses and actions.

Able to influence and persuade managers to take appropriate actions that minimise risk

Able to adapt style to different employment settings.

Able to write succinct and detailed file notes, e-mails and documentation, with a good understanding of Data Protection and confidentiality issues.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team and on own initiative.

Ability to exercise good judgment in recognising scope of authority.
