- Graduate CIPD or working towards it
- Previous NHS experience

JOB SUMMARY

- To support the HR Manager in providing a comprehensive range of HR professional advice and support to managers and staff on multiple Trust sites.

Key Result Areas
EMPLOYEE RELATIONS

- To be the first point of contact for the relevant directorate team and ward managers to provide routine advice and support on the interpretation and application of the Trust's HR policies and procedures, NHS conditions of service and employment law. The advice given will reflect current legislation and best practice.
- To assist and support managers through all stages of HR procedures, such as sickness absence, disciplinary, grievance, etc including participating in investigations, attending hearings to support the presenting manager, and taking notes at hearings as appropriate.
- To provide support in the routine management of poor performance and sickness absence issues in accordance with the Trust's procedures.
- To produce reports, in association with the Workforce Information Manager, on a regular basis on such topics as sickness absence, turnover, establishment information etc, analysing trends and highlighting problems to the HR Manager.
- To assist with the formulation, revision and implementation of HR policies and procedures as and when required.
- To proactively seek resolutions to employee relations situations with managers and use initiative in achieving satisfactory outcomes in a timely manner.
- In conjunction with the HR Manager and Recruitment Manager, assist managers withappropriate recruitment strategies.
- To assist with job evaluation and matching panels as appropriate.
- To assist with the design of appropriate selection assessments and participate in interview panels.
- To assist with the implementation of identified initiatives to help improve staff retention.

Recruitment and Retention

- In conjunction with the HR Manager and Recruitment Manager, assist managers withappropriate recruitment strategies.
- To assist with job evaluation and matching panels as appropriate.
- To assist with the design of appropriate selection assessments and participate in interview panels.
- To assist with the implementation of identified initiatives to help improve staff retention.

Projects

- To undertake ad hoc projects in conjunction with other members of the HR Team, eg management of the salary sacrifice and childcare voucher scheme.
- To support and assist the HR Manager on any change management/organisational development issues arising within the Directorate, including the redeployment of staff.
- To provide administrative support for Employment Tribunal cases.
- To work with HR managers and line managers in reducing agency costs within the Directorate.

Training and Development

- To work with the HR Manager in providing update sessions for managers on new legislation, and employee relations issues and the roll out of new and amended policies and procedures.
- To participate in the delivery of HR related training courses organised within the Trust.
- To undertake mandatory and statutory training as required by Trust policy.
- To contribute and commit to undertaking an annual Development Review/appraisal.
- To undertake personal development as identified in the Personal Development Plan (PDP).
