HPC Engineer

We are currently searching for a HPC Engineer to work in Den Haag, The Netherlands for 12 months plus extensions. This is a fantastic contract opportunity for a large multi-national client.

As a HPC Engineer you'll work in an operational role, providing 2nd and 3rd level support as well as working on project based activities. You'll monitor and tune the HPC and job scheduling environment and perform troubleshooting and capacity planning. You will work with suppliers to resolve issues, evaluate and test, and integrate new solutions. You'll produce and maintain technical and support procedures/documentation while maintaining IT security compliance of the HPC environment.

Technical Skills and Experience

* More than two (2) years experience working in a High Performance Computing (HPC) environment.

* Linux system administration (preferably Red Hat), especially in relation to linux compute cluster management, OR

* Administration of job scheduling software for compute clusters/grids (strongest preference with IBM LSF), OR

* Software Scripting and programming in a Linux environment (eg Python, Perl, Shell Scripting, C/C++), OR

* Database administration (preferably Oracle and/or MySQL), OR

* Management of enterprise tape libraries, tape drives and HSM storage solutions, OR

* Networking and/or Infiniband switch and fabric administration, OR

* High speed storage system administration (eg parallel file systems and NFS experience) Install, maintain, and support hardware and software components within a Linux High Performance Computing (HPC) environment:

* Linux based compute clusters, Servers & accelerators

* Ethernet network and Infiniband fabric Switches

* High speed storage systems and tape libraries & drives

* Software for cluster job scheduling, systems management, monitoring and reporting

* Databases Soft Skills and Experience

* A collaborative team player and sensitive communicator, able to work well in a distributed work environment and a diverse culture

* Self-motivated, adaptable, and enthusiastic to learn

* Able to work within projects and meet deadlines

* Able to produce technical documentation to a high standard
