A local Authority in Bedfordshire are currently looking for a Home Improvement Manager to join them on what initially will be a three month interim contract with potential opportunity for a permanent role. The current role is a 32 hour week working from 9:00 - 5:30pm.

Reporting to the Building Works Manager you will be delivering an excellent home improvement service, enabling disabled people to live independently in their own home and to support the government's target of a decent home for all.

It will also be part of your role to organise, resource and deliver a range of building works projects, on behalf of the Building Works Manager, to ensure that the works are carried out to the highest quality, represent value for money and meet all necessary standards.

Main Account abilities include;

- To manage the Home Improvement Team and relationship management with Occupational Therapy through an established SLA
- To manage the registered social landlords and occupational therapy service outputs and provide advice and guidance on improvements.
- To ensure that all applications for mandatory Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) are determined in accordance with the regulations under the ‘Housing Grants Construction and Regeneration Act 1996'.
- To ensure that all discretionary grant/loan applications are determined in accordance with current policy under the ‘Regulatory Reform Order 2002'.
- To manage and profile the capital budget of £2.4 million to ensure target spend and appraise management of any future resources needed to ensure continued excellent delivery of the service.

Essential Qualifications and experience required for the role include;

- Educated to at least A level or qualified to HNC level in a building trade
- Minimum of 2 years experience of working in a grant based environment.
- Experience of contract management
- Experience of policy development
- Experience of working within a local authority housing or corporate property environment
- Experience of managing large budgets
