RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs a variety of Anatomic Pathology procedures of various complexities, with technical supervision, following procedural guidelines. Ensures all procedures and protocols adhere to departmental guidelines, safety and regulatory requirements, and quality control standards. Cooperates with a diverse group of people and skill levels in performing daily operational tasks. Upholds the standards of the system-wide customer service program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:
Registered or registry eligible Histology Technician (HT/ASCP) or Histology Technologist (HTL/ASCP)

Registry eligible consists of:
- Successful completion of a NCCLS approved program, AND
- Notification of MHMC of a passing score on the HT or HTL certification exam within 1 year of hire is required for continued employment

If registry cycle is greater than1 year, notification of successful completion must occur one month after the next available registry date for continued employment. Associate of Science in an Applied Science or equivalent as outlined in CLIA-88 Regulations, OR High School diploma and past experience performing tissue handling and dissecting/grossing prior to April 24, 1995, with documentation of tissue handling and dissecting/grossing proof from previous employers Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

PREFERRED:
Experience with electronic equipment and computer systems Histology Technologist, HTL(ASCP) Bachelor of Science
