Health and Safety Officer - ISO 18001, Construction, Rail, CDM

HEALTH AND SAFETY OFFICER - ISO 18001, CONSTRUCTION, RAIL, CDM,

ROLE:

We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Officer to join a global engineering organisation. You will be responsible for providing CDM, Health Safety and Welfare support for the London business; making sure the company is compliant with statutory obligations, to ensure safety manuals are in place and that project management staff use appropriate Health and Safety Management Systems without introducing intolerable risk.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- To understand and keep up to date with legislation and contractual requirements; to ensure legal, business and client compliance with regards to rules and procedures affecting CDM, health, safety, welfare and the environment
- Advising and assisting in the improvement, implementation and maintenance of an effective CDM, Health and Safety Management System
- Advise on the implementation of those procedures to all staff on either our customer or our own sites
- To conduct site Inspections and surveys including documenting site specific risk assessments, method statements; liaising with the PMO for reporting purposes
- To maintain an overview of the safety requirements within all stages of a project life cycle, providing guidance, advice and assistance to operational staff as and when required including notices and bulletins
- To monitor and record all internal and external non-conformance's, near misses and work constructively with all levels of management and staff in implementing solutions to prevent reoccurrence.
- To work closely with the other members of the safety department to maximise knowledge and experience to ensure that all CDM, health, safety and welfare requirements on all projects are fully understood.
- To carrout accident and incident investigations and identify remedial actions to reduce the risk of reoccurrence
- Provide client/stakeholder management and assist in resolving issues preventing import of risk to the client, stakeholder and business as far as is reasonably practicable

REQUIREMENTS:

- NEBOSH
- Valid CSCS Card
- A Health and Safety Professional in the Construction sector, specifically with CDM experience
- Thorough understanding of CDM2007 and future CDM2015 Regulations
- Up to date knowledge of current legal developments in respects of construction and associated law.
- At least 5-8 years' experience in Safety Management in a multi-disciplined environment (including training delivery)
- Audit experience of OHSAS 18001.
- 3 - 5 years Safety Management experience interacting with the Rail Industry
- Working knowledge of CDM
- Full Driving Licence
- Direct learning and support NVQ 7318
- Member of the IOSH or IIRSM
