The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) brings together responsibility in Government for energy and climate change. Our priorities are:

1. Save energy with the Green Deal and support vulnerable consumers

2. Deliver secure energy on the way to a low carbon energy future

3. Drive ambitious action on climate change at home and abroad

4. Manage our energy legacy responsibly and cost-effectively

Meeting these objectives is a massive and exciting policy and delivery challenge. DECC is a small Department but it deals with issues of national and global importance. For further information please visit .

The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) Team is responsible for policy and delivery of both the Renewable Heat Incentive and Renewable Heat Premium Payments schemes, as key contributors to renewable energy targets, Carbon Budgets and a low carbon future. At a stage when we are developing domestic RHI policy for a 2013 launch, it is crucial that we maintain a close understanding of the renewable heat supply chain as well as consumer responses to renewable heat. This includes an understanding of the drivers to investment and growth in the sector, and the way DECC policies can affect these. We are setting up a small Market Intelligence Unit in the RHI team to help us achieve this understanding and are currently recruiting for the head of this team. This is an exciting role that offers applicants the opportunity of making a real impact on government policy so that consumers, industry and taxpayers benefit from an effective scheme.

We are looking for someone with proven commercial experience with a demonstrable track record/ background in the UK energy market and knowledge of the major UK renewable energy companies and investors. You will have a broad and solid commercial grounding/ understanding of the dynamics of banking and the capital markets (M&A, project finance, leveraged finance etc). The ability to analyse company accounts, business ratios and the financing and strategic decisions made by companies and be able to make this analysis relevant to DECC policy teams is also essential. Additionally, deep experience in a senior marketing or consultancy role is a requirement for the successful candidate.

The closing date is 1st March 2013.
