Head of Investment Risk

Hyphen have an amazing opportunity to work for a large Insurance client of ours based London as a Head of Investment Risk for a period of 6 months initially.

The successful candidate will have strong experience in Operational Risk & Internal Audit, providing exposure to a broad range of risk issues.

Duties/Accountabilities:
- Responsibility for development/production of Board Papers and Risk Reports for executive management
- Attendee at Risk Oversight meetings and other governance and oversight meetings as appropriate
- Advise CRO/CIO/CEO on emerging investment risks. Establish procedures for action/controls and mitigation of emerging risks in investments
- Oversight of operational risk associated with investment activity (for example controls around UDA's),
- Advise/assist CRO in overseeing the provision of information from the Actuarial Team to ensure issues are properly investigated and escalated as required.
- Provide key point of contact within the business for investment oversight matters

Essential Skills/Experience:
- Governance and control frameworks
- Broad asset knowledge, spanning investment & derivative products
- Strong investment product knowledge in all asset classes.
- Investment risk principles and models
- Good product knowledge across all Asset Classes including Alternatives
- Good judgement and knowledge of:

o Fund of fund trading - on and offshore
o Securities and derivative trading and associated risk
o Investment operations (Collective investment schemes, life, pension, offshore)
o Investment risk considerations within CIS, including derivative usage and associated risk
o Third party system selection, implementation and management
- Management experience and leadership skills (ability to manage direct as well as functional reporting lines and relationships across multiple disciplines and level of seniorities)
- Operational risk management techniques and concepts
- Advanced communication, relationship building, negotiation & influencing skills
- Previous experience in Operational Risk & Internal Audit, providing exposure to broad range of risk issues.
- Strong quantitative background, with broad ranging knowledge and experience across multi-asset environments
- Insurance & Investment exposure, with Asset Management, Hedge Fund and Insurance operations.
