For a project at our client's site, an international bank based in Zurich, we are looking for a

GDPR LEGAL EXPERT - EMEA (5668)

As part of the Data Management and Protection Legal team, you will cover legal matters relating to data protection, privacy, banking secrecy and banking confidentiality (Data Management & Protection) for our client in the Europe Middle East and Africa region (EMEA).

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

- 8+ YEARS' EXPERIENCE AS LAWYER WITH STRONG KNOWLEDGE IN DATA MANAGEMENT & PROTECTION
- DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE IN RELATION TO IN-HOUSE POSITIONS OR REPUTABLE PRIVATE PRACTICE FIRMS
- STRONG DRAFTING AND NEGOTIATING SKILLS
- Ability to assess and advise on complex risk as part of providing solution driven advice
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship building skills
- Proven ability to influence cross-functionally and work within complex environments
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills with ability to interact and work with people from different areas and locations at all levels
- FLUENT IN ENGLISH

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Advise on legal interpretation of GDPR and other applicable data protection and privacy laws and regulations
- Provide legal support to the Group Data Protection Officer organization, including support for data subject access requests, purpose limitation and legality assessments, handling of data breaches and general advice
- Engage and supervise external counsel, as required and respond to legal inquiries from Data Protection authorities
- Advise on and support the roll-out of processes, policies and documentation to cover updates in relevant laws and regulations in EMEA that have an impact on data
- Respond to information governance/records management questions and provide guidance (eg defensible disposal and data hubs)
- Provide guidance on data localization laws, whether contained in data protection legislation or other laws (eg Cybersecurity laws)
- Maintain various standard contractual documentation relating to data privacy (eg intragroup and vendor data transfer agreements)
- Provide legal support for automatic exchange of information with tax authorities
