Families Centre Social Worker

Working as part of a team, You will be providing a range of specialist assessment and Interventions services (both centre based and outreach) specifically targeted to families with complex needs, within a diverse local community, to undertake assessments and Interventions that are critically reflective, analytical and evidence based, utilising relevant social work tools, knowledge and theory. Working in partnership with professionals in house and colleagues across agency boundaries to ensure that work is undertaken in line with agency care plans to safeguard and promote the well-being of children and young people. Complying with the statutory requirements of the relevant children and young people, mental health or community care legislation, and working in line with the requirements of the Council's policies and procedures to ensure that children are safeguarded and able to maximise their life chances.
To ensure that services are both preventative and responsive and offered in a flexible way to address issues as they occur, including offering some services outside of core hours.
You will have knowledge and experience of child care legislation including the Children Act 1989, 2004 and associated guidance and regulations.Theory and practice of child development. Knowledge of relevant and current social work tools and the ability to utilise these tools within practice to provide evidence based assessments. Knowledge of and ability to develop skills in therapeutic approaches to work with children, young people and their families.Theory and practice of protecting children. GSCC recognised social work qualification, or relevant degree-level professional qualification. A current GSCC certificate will be a condition of appointment and a condition of employment for all staff working in a qualified social work role. Experience of working with children and families in the court arena, including the ability to give clear verbal evidence.
