Working in conjunction with Serco Defence, The Joint Services Command and Staff College (JSCSC) trains the future commanders and staff officers of all three UK Armed Services and those from many countries around the world.
The Families and Welfare Co-ordinator will act as the focal point for all International Families at Shrivenham Station, dealing with the problems and concerns associated with living in a Service environment and advising on local community, welfare and social activities. There is a requirement to attend a small number of evening social functions which time off in lieu (TOIL) arrangements will apply.
Duties and Responsibilities
Deputise for the Shrivenham Station Families & Welfare Officer as required.
Coordinate work of Lead Administrator.
Maintain Close liaison with JSCSC Head of International Student Liaison.
Provide assistance to international families upon their arrival at the Defence Academy, assist with banking, accommodation, education and health provision enquiries.
Liaison with Army Welfare Service, Army Families Federation and Airwaves representatives.
Arrange/assist with office functions and events including annual and ad hoc Meet and Greet events.
Point of contact for dealing with matters raised by SFA occupants.
Coordinate process associated with CRB clearance checks.
Regular liaison with the Jubilee Community Centre (JCC) Administrator and voluntary individuals and age
Ad hoc tasks at the request of the Shrivenham Station Families & Welfare Officer.
Line Manager duties for the Families and Welfare Lead Administrator and Jubilee Centre Administrator
Attend Families and Welfare Meetings and other meetings as required.
Attend International Bazaar and conduct induction briefings at the start of each academic year.
Skills and Attributes
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Comfortable with problem solving and decision making.
Able to manage workloads and resources to achieve results.
Able to work within confidential guidelines when dealing with discreet welfare issues.
Knowledge and Experience
PC literate, with a good level of experience in MS Office including Outlook (desirable), Word (essential), and Excel (desirable).
Previous experience of working in a 'face to face' customer service families based role (desirable).
Previous experience of working as a Line Manager (desirable).
Attendance at Unit Welfare Officer Training Course post appointment.
Criminal Records Bureau clearance to be sought on appointment.
