My Client, a leading global engineering organisation. are looking for a senior Test/Validation Engineer to join their busy team.

As a part of the Product Development and Global Technology division (>PD), Global Engine Development (GED) UK delivers machine, engine system and component testing programmes for its customers on a range of products. GED-UK is a world-class development facility supporting the Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) in the development of new and existing products. The GED Test Engineering Team have responsibility for the build, testing and assessment of prototype diesel engines, up to 10 litre capacity, for both current product improvement and new product introduction projects (including performance, emissions, verification and validation testing).

A position is required within the GED Test Engineering team and will be responsible for the successful delivery of the NPI (engine build, rig, test, strip) programmes that we support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Responsible for the delivery of customer requirements, as defined in the specific engine requirements form (SERF), and to master control plan dates.
*Provide support to advanced planning team & processes to ensure that engine and all required test equipment is available in advance.
*Creation & management of build and/or test instructions for engine installation/removal, testing, daily checks, servicing & rework.
*Responsible for progression of test cell and engine mechanical issues, and communication of progress to customer. Form a close partnership with customer and technician groups to maximise test cell utilisation.
*Communication and tracking of engine mechanical defects/failures, ensuring data and failed components are available for review.
*Data analysis, tracking and recognition of discrepancies in engine performance & endurance test data using best practices.
*Work with GED Facilities teams to develop test & instrumentation practices/strategies.
*Engine/component strip assessment, concern identification & technical report writing.
*Define & maintain metrics to drive improvement actions.
*Creating and updating engine test procedures.
*Support of process & facility improvement team projects, including use of Standard Work.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Essential:
*Engineering degree - or a recognised HND qualification accompanied with relevant work experience
*Experience of working in an engine development environment
*Able to demonstrate a good understanding of internal combustion engine fundamentals.
*Must have the ability to communicate effectively with team members and others in the work group, as well as employees in other units, customers and suppliers.
*Logical problem solving skills are essential, as is the tenacity to ensure that results are delivered 'right first time' and within quality and time targets.
*Strong interpersonal skills
*Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative.
