Deskside Support Technician

The Deskside Support Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, resolution, deployment, and site activities related to desktop and laptop equipment. The Deskside Support Technician will be primarily responsible for receiving, staging; pre-configuration, packing and shipping of equipment required completing the day-to-day computer deployments at assigned site.

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

- Supporting desktop and laptop requests for the local site
- Supporting case request for support at the local and remote sites.
- Preparing material lists; procuring and receiving required equipment and minor hardware to support site installations.
- Installation of software as required
- Managing site stock of laptops and desktops
- All tasks involved with the installation of PCs during a large PC refresh including but not limited to loading/unloading, transporting, staging, imaging, software installs, printer driver installs, troubleshooting and asset tracking.
- Packing and shipping equipment as needed.
- Supporting ongoing test and acceptance activities involved in image deployment acceptance of each remote site.
- Preparing test reports and as-built documentation.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

- Minimum 3 years work experience in technical computing environment
- HS diploma with technical education or equivalent experience with personal computers and desktop computing environment
- PC installation experience
- PC troubleshooting experience
- Solid mastery of desktop deployment and fundamentals with a clear understanding of the fundamental underlying technologies, such as SCCM, ghost, and other imaging tools
- Must be able to self-manage and meet tight delivery schedules
- Strong communications skills (written and verbal) required
- Skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Microsoft Visio
- Basic computer troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to run hardware diagnostics on Dell hardware
- Experience working with personal computers (PCs) in an enterprise environment running Windows XP and Windows 7 preferred
- A+ certification a plus
- Ability to be on call after hours for local site
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., position requires bending, stopping, and some climbing on a frequent basis
