Design/Development Engineer - West Yorkshire - up to £50,000 - Permanent

This is a fantastic opportunity for an Experienced Mechanical Engineer that has arisen due to this clients plans for growth and expansion. They are a global company that design and supply specialist components for engine and transmission applications.

As a key member of the engineering team, you will provide technical solutions to our client's requirements by way of suitable cost effective designs.As part of the team you need to cover a wide spectrum of requirements within this varied role. In return there is opportunity to progress and you will benefit from opportunities to visit some of their clients worldwide.

Duties Include:

-Reviews progress and evaluates results; makes changes in methods, design or equipment where necessary
-Develop products through recommended design, materials, vendor processing or tooling selection.
-Ensures timely completion of designs, models, prints, prototypes etc.
-Able to work as a team player, across multi-functional and multi-national team

You must have:

Essential

-Degree qualified Mechanical or Automotive Engineer
-Minimum 5 years' engineering experience
-Good knowledge and understand of engines/transmissions/associated components
-Some design experience using 3D CAD (e.g. Solidworks, ProEngineer, CATIA, SolidEdge) preferrably within an automotive environment
-Good analytical skills
-Project management experience
-Ability to work across multifunctional & multinational teams
-Knowledge of engines is not essential but would be highly desirable

Desirable

-Engines for passenger cars through trucks and gensets, to ship propulsion engines.
-Design and development experience dealing with engine components.
-Understanding of vibration principles.
-Experience with high-volume manufacturing processes.
-Knowledge of pressing, casting and forging processes.
-Knowledge product design for steel, cast iron and aluminium.
-Engines for passenger cars through trucks and gensets, to ship propulsion engines.
-A strong modeling and/or tool design background.
