Data Analyst/Data Modeller

Role Purpose
To lead analysis and intelligence gathering to develop our view/scenarios of how we will use gas and electricity, informing impact to our networks.

Key Responsibilities
Lead analysis on gas and electricity demand scenarios for use in various business activities including investment planning, production of licence obligated documents, charge setting and revenue forecasting.
Maintain and co-ordinate demand intelligence data including market assessment ensuring that wider influences (heat and transport) are considered to ensure breadth and depth of scenarios.
Provide support for delivery of key internal

Key Tasks/Deliverables
Updating the database for large consumers (loads). These require separate knowledge and analysis in order to understand their impact on demand now and into the future.
Add hoc query support to the Gas Demand Manager - responding to queries, data mining etc.
Interrogating and updating the VB code within the 'Hoptspot' model and creating a user Front End. This model determines where technology will be adopted in the UK based on housing stock, socio demographics etc. We need to update the assumptions within this and make it more user friendly.

Knowledge & Experience Required:
Strong technical and analytical skills, experience in an analytical role
High level of computer literacy: excellent spreadsheet skills, database development and management. The candidate must be advanced in excel, Microsoft Visual Basic and Access.
Logical, creative and practical approach to problem solving and ability to structure complex problems
Ability to communicate key messages
Experience across gas and electricity markets, with detailed understanding in at least one, and a good understanding of current and future global economic and market issues facing the industry would be idea
