Commercial Officer

A Commercial Officer is required for a Government Defence client. Ideally the suitable Commercial Officer will have previously worked on public sector/Government or MOD projects previously.

In the role the Commercial Officer will be responsible for the following:
- Procurement Sourcing and Contract Management: Co-ordination of all commercial outputs to ensure compliance with government and EU Procurement policy, including the publication of required DCO and OJEU notices, the preparation and issue of Invitations to Tender
- Support to the placement of new contracts, and the day-to-day management of commercial issues including the processing of contract changes where required;
- Assessment of industry tenders and price proposals to ensure conformance, compliance and value for money are achieved
- Input into and management of contractual and financial data within the ASPECT and P2P procurement tools.
- Maintenance of hard-copy and electronic records including master contracts, and maintenance of contractual file minutes to capture key facts, decisions and actions, in accordance with Departmental policy to ensure an adequate audit trail is maintained

The skills and experience required for the Commercial Officer role are as follows:

- MOD commercial experience (desirable)
- Understand commercial pricing,
- Conduct pricing exercises
- Breakdown of pricing, to ascertain value.
- Appreciating how contracts are created and drafted.
- Upholding the track record of the negotiating team.
- Ideally ex-MOD or ex-public sector procurement but not essential
