JOB TYPE: CONTRACT

REQUIRED SKILLS FOR BACKUP ADMINISTRATOR:

Hands on experience with a good understanding of Wintel and Unix server support at the enterprise level and at least 1 of the following areas:

a. Hands-on experience on EMC Networker (Legato), Netbackup 7.5, or Centricstor

b. troubleshooting knowledge on EMC Networker (Legato), Netbackup 7.5, or Centricstor or other Backup devices

DUTIES OF BACKUP ADMINISTRATOR:

Operating level knowledge in at least one of the following area - EMC Networker (Legato), Netbackup 7.5, or Centricstor. Must be able to demonstrate basic knowledge, troubleshooting and problem solving skills in above.

-Ability to demonstrate basic understanding of Backup and Host  connectivity
-Ability to follow ITIL based incident management process - should be able to attend assigned incidents in the queue, perform resolution steps, escalate as required and provide updates.
-Participate in Change & release management
- Implement routine & normal changes
- Participate in CAB and TAB (Technical Advisory Board meeting)
- Raise change requests wherever required
-Knowledge about using ticketing system for daily operations - Service Center.
-Ability to participate in escalations as required
-Participate in project under the guidance of a Technical Manager
-Good communications, customer service & documentation skills, oral and written.
-Ability to perform basic Backup operations - Agent configuration, Backup scheduling, Restore  and  Recovery, Tape Vaulting, Physical Tape Libraries, VTL,etc
-Monitoring of Backup  hardware through vendor provided tools. eg GUI, Command line
-Ability to execute scripts as per the documented procedure.
-Experience in working with vendors for incident troubleshooting.
-Ability to participate in root cause analysis

Basic experience in use of Backup Management Tools, at least one of the following: EMC Networker (Lagato), Netbackup 7.5, or Centricstor. Basic understanding of local or remote backup policies.

-Ability to participate in execution of firmware upgrade under the guidance of a Technical Manager
-Ability to use remote access tools - Windows Terminal services, Putty, or Citrix.
-Understanding of mid level Windows or UNIX administration

DESIRED SKILLS FOR BACKUP ADMINISTRATOR:

-Understanding about Monitoring tools configuration
-Good understanding of VTL and backup volume management operations.
-Understanding of Backup Agent push/install & configuration steps.

CERTIFICATIONS DESIRED:

EMC Networker (Legato) Administrator track  or VERITAS Netbackup 7.5 or above

Level - Associate or Specialist

Specialty - EMC Networker (Legato) Administrator track  or VERITAS Netbackup 7.5 or above

ITIL Foundations Certification (V3)
