Automotive Engineer

Automotive SEATING ENGINEER contract opportunity in Detroit, MI. Projected 12 month assignment. Local candidates.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lead seat product development and integration including technical compliance and quality standards and drive detail design reviews to ensure design integration and details meet best practices and quality standards
- Manage product development schedule and milestones and devise cost reduction initiatives
- Manage seat supplier product and program engineers to successfully execute seat design and release and, with the seat supplier, develop and maintain, sub system and component specifications
- Support production launch activities for seats and sub-systems
- Manage root cause test incidents and implement corrective actions as well as quality/warranty preventive actions or improvements
- Develop and support test plans including component tests, sled tests, and full vehicle barrier tests
- Support sub-system product management teams and collaborate with team members from manufacturing assembly operations, finance, marketing, design, purchasing, occupant safety, and validation

REQUIREMENTS

- BS Engineering Degree in Mechanical or Electrical
- 5+ years automotive seat engineering experience
- Good project management skills and experience managing suppliers
- Knowledge of automotive seat related mechanical/electrical mechanisms and production processes such as forging, pressed metal and machine tool activities
- A PLUS to have any of (a) Seat Assembly engineering experience, (b) Knowledge of seat quality assurance processes, and (c) Seat foam and trim engineering experience
- A PLUS to have DFSS Certification and RedX problem solving training
- Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
