Asset & Liability Management (ALM) Reconciliation Analyst

Projektbeschreibung

My client is a large banking group based in Bristol - looking for an ALM Manager to work in a fast paced and exciting environment.

Principle Accountabilities

* To develop and maintain an efficient and accurate reconciliation process between Group ALM systems and Finance reporting for balance sheet and margins. Reconciliations will cover both actual and plan/forecast data.
* To work with the ALM teams in different areas of the bank to develop and agree a robust financial reconciliation process and sign-off procedure fit for purpose for the monthly operations of the ALM Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB) process.

This includes -:

* Agreeing the detailed financial reconciliation processes and sign-off procedures.
* Developing consistent manual procedures in the first instance and potential longer term development opportunities for automation of the reconciliation process going forward.
* Specification of any automated reconciliation routines.
* Analysis and resolution of reconciliation breaks.
* Embedding agreed reconciliation tolerances and exception processes.
* Establishing reconciliation break procedures, explanations and sign-off processes.
* Ensuring processes designed are sufficiently flexible to be able to accommodate future business restructures.
* Ensuring reconciliation procedures are fit for purpose, auditable, and consistent with/suitable for audit, risk and SOX compliance requirements.
* Ensuring timeliness of the reconciliation procedures, in keeping with monthly ALCO reporting outputs.
* To take a broader responsibility for problem resolution/ad hoc queries across ALM.
* Ensure the delivery of the key monthly reporting and management processes for designated areas of responsibility.

Key Skills

* Detailed understanding of financial ledger systems (SAP, Oracle GL or similar)
* Relevant accounting qualification (CIMA/ACCA)
* Understanding of Retail banking products and accounting treatments
* Understanding of financial adjustment processes and practices
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to write for and present at senior management meetings.

Preferred Skills

* Understanding of ALM modelling tools (QRM, Sungard/Convergence, RiskPro or similar)
* Good understanding of the key areas of asset and liability management covering:
* Gap reporting
* NII forecasting
* Familiarity with broad financial planning techniques and issues
* Knowledge of Retail, Wholesale and Treasury instruments including:
-Interest rate swaps and option products
-Mortgages
-Savings
-Current accounts
-Loans & deposits
-Swaps and money market instruments
-Non product balances such as net free reserves, equity investments

* Ability to analyse large volumes of data and produce statistical analysis of the results.
