Applications System Lead (Insurance)

Our client, a leading Insurer, is looking for an Applications Lead to manage the development and implementation of an IT refresh delivery project and lead the development team. Focusing on building and maintaining core strategic systems.

As an APPLICATIONS SYSTEM FACTORY LEAD you will spend the majority of your time working with the Application Development lead, leading the system development teams, to define and develop best practice, cost effective solutions, aligned to Group IT strategy. You will be accountable for the delivery of solutions for a set of core non-infrastructure applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Developing and implementing plans to enable the delivery of a wide range of core IT application solutions to automate and support business processes and activities.
- Managing the continuing development and enhancement of core applications, reviewing, and developing, supporting or transforming them in line with business and IT service needs and Group IT strategy.
- Providing expert advice and guidance to business leaders and IT and service management colleagues in the planning of major systems or business process changes
- Managing the relationships between the Systems Factory team and identified external suppliers to ensure aligned development and integrated solutions, optimising opportunities to derive added value and ensure that costs are appropriately managed and reallocated.
- Supporting Service Management in identifying, assessing and developing business cases for the development of systems and stability performance improvements
- Leading the Systems Factory team to ensure that resources (people, technological, etc.)
- Motivating and developing the Systems Factory team

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:

- Excellent knowledge and understanding of INSURANCE INDUSTRY specific systems (ideally AIS: Accenture Insurance Solution)
- INSURANCE INDUSTRY BACKGROUND IS ESSENTIAL
- PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE OF MANAGING A PORTFOLIO OF SYSTEMS AT ANY ONE TIME
- Experience of defining and delivering technological maintenance and support across the business.
- Experience of working with an IT solutions development function at a SENIOR LEVEL.
- Excellent understanding of business processes and technological impacts.
- Integration with other IT systems/infrastructure.
- MANAGING A TEAMS OF SYSTEM DEVELOPERS/PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
