Application Architect/Designer (Oracle/JAVA/J2EE/EDI/XML/UML)

APPLICATION ARCHITECT/DESIGNER (Oracle/JAVA/J2EE/EDI/XML/UML)

The contract is with a large consultancy to be on assignment at a European site in Brussels. The client is urgently seeking a J2EE Application Architect/Designer to assist in the design and development of component architecture and building blocks of the information systems within projects and integration with the selected backends.

Tasks:

- Architecture, design and review of the architecture of information systems
- Design and development of component architecture and building blocks
- Analysis of the integration of different information systems
- Data analysis, Datamodelling and data reverse engineering
- Design, implementation and maintenance of database layer of multi-tiers applications
- Performance tuning of database layer of multi-tiers applications
- Database system integration
- Data quality management
- Production of software architecture documents
- Participation in technical working groups, progress meetings and meetings with the users
- Assistance in the testing, technical documentation, deployment, evaluation and reporting
- Assure interoperability between electronic Procurement back offices and front offices applications
- Promote best practices for using procurement and financial projects.

Knowledge and Skills:

- Very good knowledge of the ICT infrastructure technologies and application design with both Client Server and web applications
- Very good knowledge and proven experience in data analyses, Datamodelling and data reverse engineering
- Very good knowledge in business process analysis, business process modelling, user requirements, analysis and application design with both Client Server and web applications
- Very good experience in relational database design and modelling
- In-depth knowledge and experience in the following technical areas: Oracle RDBMS, Oracle PL/SQL, ODM, Oracle Big Data, partitioning, ETL
- Proven experience with multi-tiered Java and Oracle-based web applications
- Knowledge of electronic procurement and related technologies, in particular EDI, Universal Business Language, electronic signatures, XSD, XML
- Good knowledge of SOA and data synchronization solutions (synchronous and asynchronous)
- Very good knowledge of XML, RUP, UML, Visio and iterative software development is a must
- Proven experience in ERP information systems and related business processes (procurement, finance, logistics, accounting) is a must
- Very good interpersonal skills and at least two years' experience with managing technical teams
- Experience within a European Institution or another European Body is considered as an advantage
- Quick learning ability as well as teamwork spirit and ability to integrate in a multilingual and multicultural environment.
- Very good written and oral skills in both English and French.
- Knowledge of financial and electronic procurement systems is a must.
